The banking sell off
Malaysian banks have been selling off for the last few weeks.
There are a lot of worries in the market, and government bonds which are the safest investment have been selling off too.
Maybank is now paying 6% assuming the bank pays the same dividend as last year.
Knowing that PNB depends on this dividend, Maybank will try its best to keep the dividend payout.
But in terms of value though, the options are much better now.
As long as Malaysian economy remain in shape, and people continue to pay their mortgage, the banks will be fine.
