1/ 56.9% ROE for the top BMQ50 leaderboard. This is the average ROE for the last 8 quarters for AUTOCOUNT DOTCOM.

This is what a coompany within BMQ50 index can do.

Let’s revisit what BMQ50 index actually measures.

• High Return On Equity. A 50% ROE means for RM 100 invested in the company, you will get back RM 50 as profit. That is profit, not revenue. So it is a big deal.
• Low Debt to Equity ratio. The company does not use borrowings in the business. Many of these companies are so profitable that they effectively have no debt.
• High operating cash flow relative to PATAMI. For PADANI (a BMQ50 index consituent), the ratio is 4.6x. That means the operating cash flow is 4.6x its PATAMI. If you ever run a business, you know that a company can be profitable but bankrcupt because of 0 cash flow. These BMQ50 companies have more cash than profit. The opposite.

2/ So what do the top 10 constituents do?

AUTOCOUNT DOTCOM has a SAAS business. It provides Point Of Sales and accounting solutions in Malaysia and for the last few quarters, the SST rollout had given the company a windfall.

CARLSBERG BREWERY MALAYSIA and HEINEKEN MALAYSIA are breweries.

UCHI TECHOLOGIES makes coffee machine modules.

Two palm oil plantation companies, INNOPRISE PLANATIONS AND UNITED PLANTATIONS.

PECCA is a premier leather upholstery manufacturer.

FOCUS POINT is an optical chain.

MN Holdings is a contractor for Tenaga Malaysia and is a direct beneficiary of the data center boom in Malaysia.

And finally Bursa Malaysia, the stock exchange.

3/ But the leaderboard is a lagging indicator.

AUTOCOUNT DOTCOM has the highest CQS score, but the revenue and profit has been trending down.

Another company in the top 10 constituent, MN Holdings’s revenue and progit has been trending up.

And the daily trading volume follows the money and the newsflow.

It is true. In a capitalist market, smart money follows the smart companies that is doing well.

The leaderboard can gives some clues.
